Private health insurance can pay for nursing and therapy at home after surgery, a hospital stay, or a change in a chronic condition. Being in-network means EliteCare has a contract with your insurer, which often keeps your share of the cost lower.

Every plan has its own rules. Before care starts, we call your insurer, confirm what is covered, and explain your deductible and copay in plain language.

Do you qualify for home health under BCBS or Cigna?

  • You have a Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna plan with home health benefits.
  • Your doctor orders home health care and states it is medically necessary.
  • You need skilled care, such as nursing, wound care, or physical, occupational or speech therapy.
  • Your plan approves the visits, if it requires prior authorization.
  • You have visits left under your plan's yearly limit, if your plan has one.

Some plans require you to be homebound. Others do not. We check your plan's exact rules for you.

What in-network with BCBS and Cigna means

In-network means EliteCare has a contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna at agreed rates. You usually pay less than you would with an out-of-network agency.

If you have a different plan, call us. Some plans have out-of-network benefits, and we can tell you what we find before you decide.

How we verify your insurance benefits

Before your first visit, we call your insurer. We ask about home health coverage, your deductible, your copay, prior authorization, and any yearly visit limit.

Then we explain what we learned. You will know your expected share before care starts, so there are fewer surprises later.

Why insurers need physician orders

Private insurers pay for home health when a doctor says it is medically necessary. Your doctor's orders list the services, how often they happen, and the goals.

If your insurer asks for updates or a new approval, our registered nurse sends the clinical notes. We follow up with the insurer until we have an answer.

Skilled care versus personal care under private insurance

Most private plans cover skilled care, like wound care or physical therapy. They usually do not cover non-medical help, like companion care or housekeeping, on its own.

Some long-term care insurance policies do cover personal care. If yours does, we can help you file. If not, we can talk about private pay for the hours you need.
